Honey Mustard Dressing

For as long as I can remember, I have not really enjoyed honey mustard. I mean, I have always loved regular mustard (like on hot dogs and burgers) and I use honey almost every day (in my coffee and tea, on biscuits and toast), but for some reason, I never liked the way honey mustard tasted. It didn’t taste like a simple combination of honey and a great mustard to me, there was something extra and whatever it was, I did not love it.

Fast forward to this week and I was working on this sweet & sticky chicken recipe and it needed to be dipped into something special. When I asked my husband, he cheered for honey mustard (he loves the stuff), so I decided to make my own. I wanted it to be simple, flavorful and only containing good, clean ingredients. It turned out fantastic!

If you are interested in making a batch of honey mustard that truly tastes like a combination of the goodness of honey and the tangy flavors of mustard, then let’s get this started…

This recipe is super simple! Combine 1/2 cup of plain greek yogurt or a good quality mayonnaise (I love Duke’s mayonnaise!) with 3 tablespoons of dijon mustard, 2 tablespoons of honey, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, 1 clove of finely minced garlic and a pinch of salt and black pepper in a small dish.

Whisk to combine.

You’re done.

This creamy honey mustard is definitely an elevated version of the stuff you get with your chicken strips at the drive thru. It has some real tang, a great amount of garlic and just the right amount of sweetness.

This dressing is what I think honey mustard always should have been, so if you are looking for a simple, tangy twist on a classic dressing then give this honey mustard a try. I think you are going to love this dressing.
