Pumpkin Spice

‘Tis the season to kiss your pancakes, muffins, cookies, popcorn, pies, puddings and coffee creamers with the sweet spices of the fall… pumpkin spice. This glorious collection of warm spices is surprisingly versatile and if it could possibly be added to a food, someone has done it… somewhere… and I want some.

At risk of a pumpkin spice overdose, I have tried pumpkin spice flavored bagels, cheerios, doughnuts, ice cream, popcorn and cream cheese (and that is just scraping the surface) and I actually loved every single one of them… I even bought my dogs pumpkin spice dog treats, because why not?

Since there are so many things that can be made better with a sprinkle of pumpkin spice, why not make your own? I would hate to have anyone find themselves in need of pumpkin spice and have to go without, so let’s get this started…

This recipe is quite simple. You are simply combining certain amounts of some of the best spices around and if you need a small amount, you can follow this recipe, but if you are in need of a hefty amount of this glorious concoction, you can double.. triple… even quadruple the amounts to make as much of it as you want!

Combine 2 tablespoons of cinnamon, 1 teaspoon of nutmeg, 1 teaspoon of allspice, 1/2 teaspoon of ground ginger, 1/2 teaspoon of ground cloves and 1/4 teaspoon of cardamom in a small dish.

You can use this on so many recipes and I love swapping this out for cinnamon in pancake batter, cookie dough, whipped cream and so many other recipes. I would love to recommend using this beautiful spice mixture to make these delicious pumpkin sconesHowever you decide to use your pumpkin spice, you are going to love it!

Enjoy!
