Strawberry & Black Cherry Smoothie Bowl

This beautiful bowl is simply a thick, creamy combination of strawberries, black cherries and vanilla greek yogurt and it is fantastic. The strawberries are naturally sweet, the black cherries are tart and the greek yogurt adds notes of vanilla and a beautiful thick, creamy texture. This smoothie bowl is perfect for breakfast, but it is also a great light lunch or post work out treat.

To make a meal sized smoothie bowl, you will need 8 ounces of strawberries, 8 ounces of black cherries and 1/2 cup of vanilla greek yogurt.

I have been playing around with getting the right texture and I believe that using fresh strawberries and frozen black cherries is perfect. You can use frozen fruit for both, but I love fresh strawberries and black cherries are easy to find frozen and already pitted year round. Easy.

I recommend using whole milk greek yogurt for this and all smoothie bowls. It adds thickness and creaminess to the smoothie bowl instead of thinning it out, which I love and think you will too…

To make the smoothie bowl, just put everything into your blender and blend until smooth. Thats it! Aside from cutting the stems off of a few strawberries, there is very little work involved in creating this beautiful, delicious and healthy bowl of goodness.

There are a variety of ways to top your smoothie bowl. You can use fresh fruit if you want to keep it super healthy and just add a little texture. Bananas, blue berries and blackberries work really well with this flavor combination.

You can also add granola (chocolate granola works great!) or even some dark chocolate shavings. Strawberries, cherries and chocolate are such a wonderful combination and it can turn this smoothie bowl into into a light, healthy dessert.

In addition to textural add ons, you can also drizzle a little milk or heavy cream over this smoothie bowl or even a little whipped cream. It all depends on how rich you want this smoothie bowl to be. It is super versatile and with just three healthy ingredients, it is easy, healthy and incredibly delicious.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces of strawberries, stems removed
  • 8 ounces of black cherries, pitted, frozen
  • 1/2 cup of vanilla Greek yogurt
  • fresh fruit (garnish)
  • granola (garnish)
  • chocolate shavings (garnish)
  • milk or cream (garnish)
  • whipped cream (garnish)

Instructions

  • Combine everything in a blender
  • Blend until smooth
  • Transfer into a bowl and top with fruit, granola, chocolate shavings or whipped cream
