With peach season right around the corner, I wanted to celebrate their naturally sweet, juicy goodness with a smoothie. This smoothie only has a few ingredients, so the peach flavor is definitely forefront and perfectly complimented by greek yogurt and a banana for creaminess, almond milk to loosen things up a bit and some granola to create a delicious peach cobbler smoothie bowl that you are going to love starting your day with.
Peaches are naturally sweet, so there is no need to add any sugar or sweeteners to a peach smoothie. They are also full of vitamin C and antioxidants, they help to strengthen your immune system and contain carotenoids and caffeic acid, which are believed to have anticancer properties.
Peaches are a great choice for smoothies (or just an afternoon snack) and can be sliced and frozen fresh when they are in season or can easily be found frozen at most grocery stores.
Let’s get started…
Begin by gathering 16 ounces of sliced and frozen peaches, 1 large sliced and frozen banana, 1/2 cup of greek yogurt, 1/2-1 cup of almond milk (I use unsweetened vanilla), 1/2 cup of granola and 1 thinly sliced peach and some extra greek yogurt for topping your smoothie bowl.
In a blender or food processor, combine the frozen peaches, frozen banana, 1/2 cup of greek yogurt and 1/2 cup of almond milk. Blend until smooth.
If your smoothie is too thick, add a little more almond milk to loosen it up a bit more. If you want to sip your smoothie, instead of making a bowl, keep adding almond milk until it develops a liquid consistency. It’s great this way too!
Now that your smoothie is beautifully blended, it is time to add some toppings. I like to add a little more greek yogurt first. This is definitely optional, but I really like to combination of the thick, frozen smoothie with the smooth creamy yogurt. Even though this smoothie already has some greek yogurt in the mix, a little more over the top won’t hurt… there is no such thing as too much greek yogurt, right?
Now add some thin peach slices and about 1/4 cup of your favorite granola. I love this vanilla almond granola, but any granola will work great.
It’s amazing how delicious this peach cobbler smoothie bowl is and it feels a bit like you are eating dessert, instead of healthy breakfast, even though no additional sugar is added to this beautiful bowl.
From the naturally sweet flavors to the chilly, creamy and crunchy textures throughout this bowl, it really is one of my favorites and I know you are going to love it too.
