Greetings friends! My name is Fallon and I developed Espresso & Lime as a way to share my love for food, food photography and new experiences. I am married to my best friend Nate, who also happens to be a United States Marine, so his work has taken us all over the world.
Having the opportunity to travel has been such a blessing. In addition to exploring many beautiful places, we have had the chance to experience new cultures, take part in some really cool global events and of course, try different dishes and ingredients from cuisines all over the world.
The food aspect of traveling really kicked my love for trying new dishes into overdrive and this love was what inspired me to begin sharing what I have learned with my friends.
Ok, enough about the food (for now). I have been trying to figure out the best way to share a little about myself without this blog post becoming too wordy and decided on a list. Who doesn’t love a list of fun facts? I know I do, so let’s do this…
I LOVE HORSES…
Ever since I was a child, I have been in love with horses and as an adult, I have spent much of my life training with horses and riders in the US and Europe. I have been blessed to have the opportunity to work with some truly amazing horses and meet so many wonderful people around the world that share my love for these beautiful, generous animals.
I LOVE THE BEACH…
I was 26 years old before I actually met the ocean in person and I don’t know if it was a love at first sight sort of situation or just the fact that I waited so long, but I became instantly obsessed with this magical element of nature. Luckily, most Marine Corps duty stations are close to or directly on a coast, so I am afforded lots of time with the sand and waves. There is something about the beach that cures whatever you’re dealing with and I am all about soaking up as much of natures medicine as possible.
MY HEART WILL ALWAYS BE IN OKINAWA…
We were lucky enough to be stationed on the island of Okinawa for three years and this experienced changed my life. If you ask any of my close friends, it is no surprise that I love Okinawa. I actively have to stop myself from gushing about this beautiful little strip of coral in the western pacific to everyone I meet, but sometimes I just can’t help it. From its natural beauty to the beautiful people and fabulous food, I will forever have a desire to return to Okinawa.
WE CLIMBED MOUNT FUJI…
We have always loved exploring, so Mount Fuji was at the top of our list while we were living in Japan. It was a physically, mentally and emotionally amazing experience that I would highly recommend to anyone afforded the opportunity to visit this incredible volcano.
I ENJOY PUSHING MYSELF…
I love trying new things and sometimes that means that I experience something once, but other times these new experiences turn into permanent hobbies. When I am not cooking and photographing food, I am practicing Jiu Jitsu and competitive shooting. Both of these activities have become a huge part of my life and are proof that trying something new (and even scary at times) can transform your life in a way that you didn’t know you needed.
MY HUSBAND ROCKS…
I am a huge fan of my husband. We have been married for 12 years and I have loved every minute of it. He is the bravest, toughest man I know, but he also stops to save turtles crossing the road and makes me laugh so hard that I snort in public. He is the very best there is and I am very much in love with him.
I hope you enjoyed learning a little more about me and that maybe I have inspired you to try something new. This is something very important to me, because I know how much joy and fulfillment you can feel after giving a new experience a try. Be ready to fail a few times, but thats all apart of the process!
