This crispy prosciutto is amazing. After just a few minutes in the oven, its transformed into shatteringly crisp, super salty goodness that adds something extra special to any sandwich, salad or soup.
Let’s get started…
This is hardly a “recipe”, but more like a friendly suggestion. Crisping prosciutto in the oven is so easy and it is a wonderful Italian twist on anything you would use bacon for. Crispy prosciutto makes a great BLT sandwich, it is delicious crumbled over scrambled eggs or a big salad and adds a salty crunch to potato salad, macaroni and cheese or a bowl of soup.
To crisp your prosciutto, simple lay them flat on a non-stick or parchment lined baking sheet and bake them at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until they are as crisp as you want.
As you can see in the photo above, the edges may curl slightly as they bake, but if you want your prosciutto to crisp up completely flat, you can place a sheet of parchment paper over them and set another baking sheet over top creating a sandwich effect. The weight of the top baking sheet will help to keep the prosciutto flat as they crisp up.
Transfer the crispy pieces of prosciutto onto a paper towel lined plate until you are ready to crumble them over something delicious…
