Acai Ginger Berry Wellness Shots

Eating healthy is always a good idea. There are so many foods that are rich in vitamins and minerals, but we aren’t always able to include those ingredients in our regular diet. Whether you are eating great or not, adding a nutrient dense wellness shot to your morning routine will help boost your bodies immune system, which is always a good idea.

While there are many wonderful ingredients to work with, but today we are focusing on açaí berries, blackberries, ginger and oranges. This recipe is simple, but completely packed with nutrients. Here are some of the benefits of these ingredients…

        • Açaí Berries – these beautiful Amazonian berries are a wonderful source of polyphenols, which are antioxidants that help with managing blood pressure, control blood sugar levels and give our immune systems a kick start.
        • Blackberries – are a great source of fiber and contain high doses of vitamin C and K and manganese.
        • Ginger – is not only great for our digestive system, but it contains natural pain relieving and anti-inflammatory properties.
        • Oranges – this cheerful citrus is packed with vitamin C, potassium and fiber, but they are also believed to contain anti-inflammatory properties, hydrating properties, cancer fighting properties and may help prevent the oxidation of cholesterol too.

I shouldn’t even really call this a “recipe” per say, because you really just combine everything in a blender, blend until everything is completely broken down and strain the mixture into a glass container or little shot glasses.

Super easy, right?

The easiest way to strain the mixture is either with a piece of cheesecloth or by placing a fine mesh strainer over a big bowl. Use a spoon to press as much of the liquid out of the mixture as possible until you are left with small bits of orange peel and blackberry seeds.

Let’s talk about how much this recipe makes…

Using 6 ounces of pure açaí puree or frozen berries (not the smoothie packs!), 6 ounces of organic black berries, 1-2 inches of fresh ginger (depending on how much of a ginger punch you want flavor wise), a small organic orange and a cup of pure organic coconut water, you will have 8 two ounce shots.

If you are making wellness shots for the family, it is really easy to double this recipe. Frozen açaí usually comes in 12 ounce packs and so do blackberries, so you can use the entire containers, which I love.

When chilled in an airtight container, these shots will last up to 5 days, so plan your recipe according to what you will need for the week.

These açaí blackberry ginger and orange wellness shots are really quite tasty (even with a good amount of fresh ginger added in!) and they are packed with so many health benefits that I genuinely look forward to cracking open my fridge first thing in the morning and downing one of these cheerful little shots.

If you are looking for another wellness shot recipe to try out, I would love to suggest my pineapple ginger and turmeric wellness shots too!
