I think it is pretty safe to say that most people love whipped cream. Add it to your morning coffee, put it on pancakes, waffles and crepes, add it to your afternoon coffee and dollop some onto virtually anything you would serve for dessert. It is quite possibly the most versatile sweet “topping” around and I am a big fan.
Did you know that you can easily flavor your whipped cream? Yep! You can make a tangy citrus whipped cream by adding lemon, orange or citrus extract. You can make a flavorful espresso whipped cream by adding espresso powder in with the confectioners sugar. Todays recipe will explain how you can also make an addictively delicious brown sugar whipped cream that is perfect on just about everything.

If this is your first time making whipped cream, be prepared to be surprised at just how simple the process is and how much better homemade whipped cream really is.
To make this brown sugar whipped cream, you will need 1 cup of cold heavy cream, 1/4 cup of tightly packed brown sugar, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Thats all you need. As long as you have heavy cream in your refrigerator (and you always should!) and come sugar in your pantry, you can whip up some whipped cream. Pun intended.
Simple place all of the ingredients in a large mixing bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer and whip on medium high until either soft or hard peaks have formed. I love soft whipped cream, so I stop before it gets to thick and stiff, but if you want stiff peaks, just keep on whipping until you can pull your whisk out of the cream and the “peak” will hold its shape.
Today, I made this brown sugar whipped cream to pair with my sweet potato pie, but it will be delicious on or in anything… or just on a spoon. Trust me when I say that this is the best whipped cream you will ever make and you will be making it again and again anytime you are in need of some whipped cream… and I’m pretty sure that we established earlier that this is quite often.

Brown Sugar Whipped Cream
Ingredients
- 1 cup heavy cream, cold
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- a pinch of salt
Instructions
- Combine all of the ingredients in a large bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer
- Whip on medium high until soft or stiff peaks form (whichever your prefer)
- Use immediately or keep chilled in an airtight container
