I am a huge fan of smoothies and smoothie bowls. I mean, c’mon, a combination of fresh fruit, greek yogurt, almond milk and granola that you can either sip on the go or spoon on the couch… is there a better way to start your day?
Well, todays smoothie bowl takes the smoothie game to a whole new level, because this chocolate, peanut butter and banana smoothie bowl can literally start your day off right or end your day with a healthy treat that will totally quench your dessert cravings with no added sugar and loads of healthy protein and probiotics.
Plus, it’s incredibly delicious and you are going to absolutely love it.
Let’s get it started…
Combine 2 large sliced and frozen bananas, 1/2 cup of vanilla Greek yogurt, 1/2 cup of almond milk, 2 tablespoons of natural unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 tablespoon of powdered peanut butter and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract in a blender or food processor.
If you are unfamiliar with powdered peanut butter, allow me to introduce you to PB2’s fabulous powdered peanut butter. This particular one has some cocoa powder added in, but they make so many versions of powdered nut butters that are an amazing addition to everything from smoothie bowls to protein shakes. I have added some into pancake batter and oatmeal too.
Blend the ingredients until smooth, creamy and fully combined and then top your smoothie bowl with granola, more bananas (I love bananas!), some chia seeds or a drizzle of peanut butter. If I am enjoying this smoothie bowl for dessert, I add a little bit of dark chocolate over the bowl too.
Look at this beautiful bowl! The trio of chocolate, peanut butter and bananas are a total classic for a reason. They are just perfect together and the addition of the crunch from granola rounds this smoothie bowl out perfectly.
The textures in this bowl are smooth, creamy and thick. If you want to create a sip-able version of this smoothie, you can add more almond milk to loosen the consistency. I love it this way too!
I don’t know about you, but starting my day with a hit of chocolate, some protein from the peanut butter and greek yogurt and the probiotics, vitamins and calcium in this smoothie makes me feel like any day is going to be a great one.
Make this smoothie…. you’re going to love it!
