Lemongrass has been used for many centuries to treat everything from digestion issues to a fever reducer and although modern studies on its medicinal benefits are minimal, it is very popular in Thai and Vietnamese cuisines.
It imparts a mild citrusy, gingery, floral flavor to anything it is added to and it often used in curry, marinades, soups and teas. I love it in my lemongrass curry chicken noodle soup and this curry carrot soup too, but today we are making a comforting tea that you are going to love.
Let’s get started…
This tea is very simple to bring together. All you need to do is combine 6 cups of water with about 2 cups of chopped fresh lemongrass stalks and the juice and peels of 2 large clementines in a pot. If you can’t find clementines, mandarin oranges, lima or cara cara oranges will work great too.
Place the pot over medium high heat and bring to a simmer and simmer for 10 minutes.
Pour the tea through a mesh strainer and transfer the tea to a clean pot or tea pot.
If you prefer your tea sweet then add a little bit of honey or agave into your cup and garnish with fresh mint, a clementine slice, lemongrass stalk or nothing at all!
This lemongrass clementine tea is comforting, soothing and inviting. The lemongrass adds notes of ginger and a mild tart citrus, while the clementine adds a cheerful sweetness.
Whether you want to sip a delicious afternoon tea or are feeling under the weather and need something to sooth your body this lemongrass clementine tea is perfect for the occasion.
