Starting the day with a freshly squeezed juice is just fun. It is not only a simple process, but it is also great for your body and the perfect way to use up any fruits or vegetables that may be getting close to their expiration date. It’s a win on multiple fronts and all you need is a blender and a strainer.
Let’s get started…
Today, we are making pineapple orange juice. Simple. Sweet. Full of antioxidants. aka the perfect way to start your day.
Begin by adding about 2 cups of fresh pineapple and 2 oranges into a blender. There are valuable antioxidants in orange peels, so scrub them well, but leave them on.
Add a cup of water or coconut water and blend until the pineapple and oranges are completely broken down.
Note: If your mixture looks super thick, add another cup of liquid and pulse the blender to incorporate.
Pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer or some cheesecloth, if you happen to have some on hand, and then press (or squeeze) all of that beautiful golden juice into a bowl.
If you fall in love with the idea of waking up to fresh juice, I would suggest grabbing some cheesecloth or even just a thin kitchen towel. Squeezing the pulp in a cloth like this will help you get every last drop of juice out of it.
Reserve the pulp for a loaf of my pulp quick bread or to add into tomorrow mornings smoothie and transfer your juice into your favorite glass…
This pineapple orange juice contains so many nutrients, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals making it a wonderful way to start your day. Plus, it is naturally sweet without any of the added sugar or sweeteners found in store bought juices.
The fun thing about this recipe is that it can be recreated using so many other combinations of fruit or even vegetables! If you want to skip the straining process, try my clementine banana juice recipe.
