Preheat your oven to 350 degrees
In a large bowl, cream together 1 cup of room temperature butter, 1 cup of brown sugar and 1/2 cup of granulated sugar using an electric hand mixer or a stiff whisk
Add a large egg and a teaspoon of vanilla extract and whisk vigorously until fully combined
Add 2 cups of all purpose flour, 1/2 cup of cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon of espresso powder, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, 3/4 teaspoon of salt, 1 1/2 teaspoons of garam masala and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon and mix until just combined
In a separate bowl, combine 1/3 cup of granulated sugar with 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon or garam masala
Roll about 2 tablespoons of cookie dough into balls, roll generously in the cinnamon sugar and transfer onto a nonstick or parchment lined baking sheet leaving 2 inches between each
Bake for 11-12 minutes in a 350 degree oven and then transfer the cookies onto a cooling rack
Allow the cookies to cool until fully set on the baking sheet
