Garlic Breadsticks

Soft, garlicky breadsticks with a crispy crust and addictive flavors made from scratch in less than an hour.

Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/8 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet of active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups water, warm (between 110-110 degrees)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 teaspoons garlic salt
  • 2 tablespoons parmesan, grated
  • 1 tablespoon parsley, finely chopped (fresh or dried)

Instructions

  • Combine 1 1/2 cups of warm water (100-110 degrees) with 1/8 cup of sugar and 1 packet of active dry yeast. Set aside for 5-10 minutes or until foamy
  • In a large bowl, whisk together 2 cups of all purpose flour with 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • Add bloomed yeast and mix to combine
  • Add additional flour until a soft dough forms that is tacky, but not sticky
  • Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel and set it aside for 10 minutes
  • Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface
  • Divide the dough in half and then divide each half into 8 equal portions (16 total portions)
  • Roll each portion out into a tube about 8 inches long
  • Transfer all of the portions onto a parchment lined baking sheet and brush with melted butter
  • Cover lightly with greased plastic wrap and rest in a warm place for 30 minutes
  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees
  • Bake on a middle rack at 375 degrees for about 20 minutes or until the breadsticks are golden brown
  • Transfer the baking sheet onto a cooling rack
  • Brush the hot breadsticks with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic salt, grated parmesan and dried parsley
  • Serve warm
