Smoothies are a wonderful way to cram loads of vitamins, mineral, nutrients, antioxidants and protein into one delicious, transportable, easy to make drink that can serve as breakfast, lunch, an afternoon snack or a healthy dessert. Sounds fabulous, right?
Let’s get started…
I have some great smoothies on Espresso & Lime, but this is one of my favs for a few reasons. First off, it requires no planning ahead. Frozen berries, Greek yogurt, your favorite protein powder and some orange juice or almond milk… thats it. Second, it is thick and incredibly delicious with no added sugar. Just naturally sweet berries, creamy yogurt and some vanilla ice cream protein powder (thats my current favorite).
Quick and easy…
This recipe will give you 2 meal replacement sized smoothies or 4 smaller smoothies. This smoothie chills really well, so I make the whole batch and my husband and I each have a smoothie for today and one for tomorrow!
To make the smoothie, blend 3/4 cup of Greek yogurt (plain or vanilla) with 3 cups of frozen mixed berries, a 40 gram scoop of your favorite protein powder and enough orange juice or almond milk to create the consistency that you prefer.
When it comes to the protein powder and liquid that you add into this smoothie, you have a few different overall flavor options. My favorite combo is vanilla protein powder and orange juice… it reminds me of strawberry sherbet. Any fruity protein powder will work great in this smoothie and if you aren’t a fan of the tartness that orange juice adds, I would opt for the almond milk instead.
Either way, this smoothie is easy and super delicious!
Next time you are grocery shopping, grab a bag of frozen mixed berries and make yourself this thick, creamy, naturally sweet smoothie for breakfast, lunch or a snack. You’ll be so glad that you did…
