Chicken, bacon and ranch just go together. They are three amigos that bring out the best in each other and who wouldn’t want to hang out with a trio like that? I know I sure do.
These wraps are easy and delicious. In only about 20 minutes, you will be enjoying a warm tortilla wrap filled with smokey seasoned chicken, crispy bacon and a tangy buttermilk ranch that feels like something you would order at your favorite sandwich shop.
Let’s get started…
The first step is to cook your bacon. My all time favorite way to do this is to bake it in the oven. No baby sitting, no splattering grease and they always turn out nice and crispy. This recipe makes 2 really big wraps or 4 smaller ones, for this, I use 8 ounces or about 6 strips of bacon. I love thick cut applewood smoked bacon, but you can use any type of bacon for these wraps, even turkey bacon! Place the bacon onto a baking sheet and bake for about 20 minutes at 400 degrees. Once the bacon is done, transfer it onto a paper towel lined plate.
Crispy bacon – check.
While the bacon is in the oven, chop one large boneless skinless chicken breast into bite sized pieces and then season with onion powder, garlic powder, cumin, chili powder, paprika and cayenne. Brown the chicken in butter.
Browned seasoned chicken – check.
Wash and chop 6-8 leaves of leafy green lettuce, shred 4 ounces of a good sharp cheddar cheese and grab 2 large or 4 small tortillas. The final and most important ingredient (in my most humble of opinions) is the ranch. You can use your favorite ranch dressing or you could whip up a batch of my delicious buttermilk ranch dressing (hint hint)…
Buttermilk ranch – check.
Gather your browned flavor filled chicken, the crispy bacon, shreds of sharp cheddar, a few tortillas, chopped leafy greens and some buttermilk ranch and let’s start this assembly line..
Start with some buttermilk ranch, add chicken, then bacon and cheese and top with lettuce. Keep the filling down the center of the tortilla and about an inch from one end. Once you are ready to wrap, fold one side over the filling and tuck it in nice and tight. Fold the bottom end in and finish the roll.
If your wraps are… ummm full, you can use a sheet of parchment or wax paper to keep things where they should be and you are ready to enjoy these delicious flavorful wraps.
The combination of chicken, bacon and ranch is simply wonderful. These wraps are delicious! They are great warm, but just as good chilled, so they make a great take along lunch for a beach day or a weekend hike. Just make them, wrap them in parchment, put them into ziplock bags and toss them into your cooler and you will have a fabulous treat ready when you are.
I hope you enjoy these chicken, bacon and ranch wraps!!
