Whether you need something special for your game night snack spread or need something sweet and crunchy to sprinkle over your next batch of brownies, these quick candied walnuts will work perfectly.
Taking only 4 ingredients and about 5 minutes of cook time, they are quick, super simple and addictively tasty.
Let’s get them started…
Begin by gathering 1 cup of walnuts, either halved or whole (other nuts will work here too), 1/3 cup of granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and 1 tablespoon of butter… thats it! Simple, right?
Now put everything in a medium non-stick or cast iron skillet…
Place the skillet over medium heat and while things are warming up, set a sheet of parchment paper out on your counter top or over a cutting board.
As soon as the butter begins to melt, start stirring. You will notice that as the butter melts fully, the sugar should start melting down too. When this begins to happen, stir constantly until all of the nuts are coated completely and there is no longer any sugar left on the bottom of the skillet.
This all happens pretty quickly, so don’t wander too far from your stovetop once things start to melt…
…and as soon as the sugar has evenly coated all of the walnuts, transfer them onto the sheet of parchment paper and spread them out. The candy coating will start to harden up pretty quickly, so in order to avoid having one large chunk of candied walnuts (although that doesn’t actually sound too awful to me), spread them out quickly.
Let them sit for a few minutes and enjoy!
These candied walnuts are so good and can be ready to serve in just about ten minutes. Once they have cooled off, you can pour them into a bowl and share them with friends, keep them in a zip lock bag for snacking emergencies or crumble some up tiny and sprinkle them over brownies, cupcakes or doughnuts (hint hint)…
However you decide to enjoy these quick candied walnuts, I am super confident that you will love them and be making more in the new future.
Cheers to snacking everyone!
