Frozen Horchata Latte

I just made a big batch of horchata and am so obsessed with it. I wake up already looking forward to lunchtime, because I know I am going to have a glass of horchata with it… don’t laugh, it is really that good!

Today is the first day of the year to get into the 80’s and I found myself craving something frosty. Luckily, the horchata is all ready in the refrigerator, so all I need to do is grab a few things and blend up a fabulous frozen horchata latte.

It is creamy, cold and super refreshing with a kick of caffeine from the coffee or espresso, just the right amount of sweetness and, of course, the beautiful flavors of horchata that I absolutely love.

Sound good to you? Well, let’s get started…

If you already have horchata on hand, you are good to go. If you do not, check out my horchata recipe or pick some up at your local Latin market or restaurant.

In addition to 1 1/2 cups of horchata you will need 1/3 cup of strongly brewed coffee or a double shot of espresso, 1 teaspoon of granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons of heavy cream, a pinch of ground cinnamon, 1 cup of ice and some whipped cream (optional, but highly recommended).

Put everything into a blender and blend until the ice is fine and everything is frothy. Transfer the mixture into 2 small glasses or 1 big glass. Sharing is optional.

I love garnishing the frozen horchata lattes with some whipped cream and a little pinch of ground cinnamon.

I love the way ground cinnamon looks sprinkled over whipped cream. So inviting…

This chilly drink is sweet, icy and full of warm cinnamon flavors. The coffee adds depth of flavor and the heavy cream helps create a wonderfully creamy consistency that really hits the spot.

If you love horchata and need something refreshingly cool, then make this frozen horchata latte. You’ll be so glad that you did.
