Festive Fall Rice Crispy Treats

There are so many festive fall treats to fill your October baking plans with, like my mummy cookies, mummy doughnut sticks and these pumpkin patch brownies. Now what are you supposed to do when you need an adorable treat, but don’t want to get your oven involved?

These adorable fall rice crispy treats will do the trick just perfectly. They are ready in minutes, set up at room temperature and can be decorated in so many fun and festive ways. No need getting the oven involved.

Let’s make some…

Step one is to make a super simple batch of rice crispy treats. This recipe is one of the most popular ones out there and results in a texture that sets up firm and can be sliced into a variety of shapes and sizes. Perfect for decorating!

Melt 4 tablespoons of butter in a large pot and stir in a 10 ounce bag of mini marshmallows.

Keep stirring and as soon as the marshmallows are completely melted down, transfer your pot off of the heat and mix in 6 cups of rice crispy cereal.

Spread the mixture evenly throughout a lightly greased and parchment lined 13″x9″ baking dish and cover with a kitchen towel.

Let the rice crispy treats sit at room temperature until they are nice and firm. This usually takes about an hour, so you’ll have plenty of time to gather all of your decorations.

I like to use candy melts, sprinkles, candy eye balls and cookie icing, but there are so many fun options to use here! Around September, most grocery stores start selling some super cute sprinkles and candies that are perfect for decorating your rice crispy treats.

As soon as the rice crispy treats are firm, transfer them onto a cutting board and use a sharp knife or cookie cutter to cut your desired shapes and sizes.

Today, I am using light green and white candy melts to make little Frankenstine’s and little mummies and I am pretty obsessed with how they turned out.

With just a few different icings and sprinkles, you can let your creative side go wild and turn your rice crispy treats into anything! Its crazy what a little icing and a few candy eye balls can do to a basic rice crispy, but as long as you don’t limit your artistic side, they will turn out adorable!

Happy fall everyone!
