Steak bites are a wonderful way to quickly cook up bite sized pieces of juicy steak that are the perfect addition to everything from salads to burritos and breakfast tacos to rice bowls…
This simple recipe grills up generously seasoned sirloin, tenderloin or New York strip steak bites and tosses them in a garlic butter that will make everyone want seconds.
Let’s get started…
Begin by cutting about 2 pounds of steak into bite sized pieces. You can technically use any cut of steak you have, but I suggest a tender cut that is on the thick side. Tenderloin and New York strip works best, but sirloin is also a great option.
Add 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of cumin, 1/2 teaspoon of steak seasoning and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper to the steak and mix until every piece is generously coated in seasoning.
Place a large skillet over medium to medium high heat and add a tablespoon of butter and a tablespoon of olive oil. Allow the skillet to warm up for a bit and once the butter has melted, add the seasoned steak bites in a single layer.
Once the underside of each piece is golden brown, flip the steak bites and cook them to your desired level of doneness. Because they are small pieces, they can overcook easily and become tough, so keep an eye on them and reduce the heat as soon as they are done to your liking.
Once the steak bites are ready, reduce the heat to medium low and push the bites off to one side of the skillet…
Add 3 tablespoons of butter and 3 cloves of finely minced garlic onto the empty side of the skillet. Keep the butter and garlic moving as they cook for about 60 seconds and then toss the steak bites into the garlic butter and remove the skillet from the heat.
These garlic butter steak bites are so tender and flavorful and because they are already in bite sized pieces, you can just toss them right into tacos, burritos, salads… anything! I love pairing them with roasted vegetables or over rice and black beans.
They are great for breakfast, lunch and dinner and so easy that anyone can cook them up successfully!
Enjoy!!
