Whipping up a fresh batch of citrusy tartar sauce can take your average piece of fish from boring to fabulous or kick your fish tacos up a few notches. It is simple and customizable, so you can make the amount you need exactly how you want it and know everything that is in it too. Now who wouldn’t like the thought of that?
Let’s get it started…
This recipe will make about 1 cup of tartar sauce and it starts by gathering 3/4 cup of a good quality mayonnaise (I love Duke’s!), 1/8 cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice, 1/4 cup of finely chopped dill pickle, 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper and 1 heaping tablespoon of fresh dill.
Place all of the ingredients into a small bowl and whisk to combine. Thats it and when you taste this zesty lemon dill tartar sauce, you may never go back to the store bought stuff again.
Serve it with any type of fish, fried oysters or clams, over fish tacos, on a fish sandwich or any sandwich actually. It adds a bold dill flavor with brightness from the lemon in a smooth creamy sauce.
I love it and know you will too.
Enjoy!
