If you love chocolate, coffee and decadent desserts that come together in a just a few minutes than you are going to love this mocha mousse. A simple combination of heavy cream, chocolate, cream cheese and espresso powder are whisked together to create a rich, creamy mousse with an airy, whipped texture. The cream cheese and chocolate are melted together, so no pre-planning is necessary. Whenever the mood strikes, you can create this masterpiece!
Let’s get started…
Begin by adding 4 ounces of cream cheese and 4 ounces of melting chocolate into a heat proof bowl. You can melt them together in 15 second increments in the microwave or by placing the bowl over simmering water to create a double boiler. As soon as the mixture is warm enough to whisk smooth, set it aside to cool while you prepare the heavy cream.
Place 3/4 cup of cold heavy cream in a bowl along with 1/3 cup of confectioners sugar and a teaspoon of espresso powder. Using an electric hand mixer or stand mixer, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
Combine the sweetened whip cream with the melted cream cheese and chocolate by gently folding the two together until fully combined.
Transfer the mixture into 4 small dishes or 2 large dishes and garnish with whipped cream or finely chopped chocolate. This mocha mousse can be enjoyed immediately or chilled until ready to serve. It is a great dessert to make ahead or for any last minute cravings that may arise.
The chocolate and coffee pair so beautifully together and the espresso powder creates a bold, but balanced coffee flavor in every bite of this mocha mousse.
The texture of this mousse is super light and airy, which I love, but it also firms up a bit when it is chilled, so you can enjoy it either way.
I don’t know about you, but I am really happy to have a super quick dessert recipe that tastes so incredibly good. Its just nice to know that it is there for me, because you never know when one of those extra strong chocolate cravings may pounce…
