Around the end of August, as the evenings begin to get chilly, I start gearing up for pumpkin spice season. Full disclosure, I keep pumpkin spice creamer in my pantry 365, but nevertheless, I still become overwhelmed with festive feelings when I see signs declaring that “Pumpkin is Back!” at my local coffee shop.
Pumpkin spice flavors are unveiled at the same time of year that we start wearing sweaters and Uggs, picking pumpkins and planning for the holidays. It is such a glorious time of year, so wouldn’t you agree that your coffee deserves to be included in all of the fun? Absolutely and this pumpkin spice creamer is exactly what you need to start each chilly morning with that warm, fuzzy feeling.
Let’s get it started…
Start by gathering 1 1/2 cups of heavy cream, 3/4 cup of whole milk, 1/4 cup of pumpkin puree, 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, 2 tablespoons of maple syrup, 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract and 1 teaspoon of pumpkin spice. You can use any pumpkin spice or pumpkin pie spice mixture or you can make your own using my pumpkin spice recipe.
Add the heavy cream and milk into a small sauce pan and place it over medium heat. Keep an eye on it and as soon as it begins to simmer, transfer the pan onto a heatproof surface like a wooden cutting board.
While the cream and milk are still very hot, whisk in the remaining ingredients. Be sure to use pumpkin puree and not pumpkin pie filling for this recipe and you can increase the sweetness by adding a bit more brown sugar or maple syrup. This pumpkin spice creamer is slightly sweet, but boldly pumpkin spice. It is delicious…
If you like the pumpkin spice creamer that you buy in your grocery store, you are going to love this. It makes my kitchen smell like there is a pumpkin pie in the oven and tastes even better…
This creamer is smooth, rich and so full of pumpkin… and spice.
The combination of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, allspice, ginger and cardamom is like a warm hug on a chilly morning and who wouldn’t want to start their day off like that?
This pumpkin spice creamer is exactly what your September, October and November need, but just so you know… it tastes just as good in May.
Happy Fall everyone!
