Skewers are such an easy go-to option for summer weeknights, backyard barbecues or campfires. Stack a protein and some veg on a skewer, season, grill, enjoy.
What could be easier?
Well, these pork skewers are that easy and they are brushed with a sweet, sticky maple orange glaze that make them so special and something that everyone will love.
Let’s get started…

Begin by mixing up a quick dry rub and the maple orange glaze…
-
-
- Dry Rub – 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, 1 teaspoon of paprika, 1 teaspoon of chili powder, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1 teaspoon of onion powder, 1 teaspoon of salt and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
- Maple Orange Glaze – 1/3 cup of fresh orange juice and 1/3 cup of pure maple syrup
-

Pork tenderlion and pork shoulder works best on skewers, but they will be a little different from each other. The tenderloin will cook up quickly, which is great when you want dinner quick, but they can become overcooked fairly easily and they can be tough and a little dry if they cook too much.
Pork shoulder is a little easier to work with because it contains more fat, so it doesn’t overcook as easily, but it does take a little longer to cook through.
Whichever cut of pork you choose, cut the portion into 1 inch cubes and I love to hit each cube with a meat tenderizer once to break them down just a bit.
Thread the pork onto skewers with similarly sized slices of sweet bell peppers and yellow onions.

Season the skewers generously on all sides with the dry rub and sear over an open fire, on your grill or in a cast iron skillet over medium to medium high heat.

You can either brush the glaze over the skewers or add it all into the skillet and turn the skewers over as they begin to caramelize.

How easy are these skewers? And when you taste that glaze (especially the extra caramelized bits!), you are going to want to make these over and over again.
Whether you make them over an open fire or right in your kitchen, these maple orange glazed pork skewers are going to be a favorite!
